Equiphase is one of the UK’s leading hosting suppliers and can handle all of this for you.
2) Choosing your Domain Name
If your going to start a new website which I hope you will be I would look at getting a domain with a keyword in for example if you’re an SEO Consultant you could look at getting either your name or SEO in the title this strongly helps with marketing and is useful for your business. 3) Create good Content & lots of it
Create a lot of good content for your website make sure it’s very relevant and can help people learn more about your service or products. Try breaking it down into a range of categories so your website is easy for customers to navigate. The best way to do this is via a Blog this will allow you to keep all your customers in the know without spamming them with newsletters.
Unfortunately there is no free tool for making content only you can do this but if you do need some help please feel free to get in touch.
4) Keyword Research
Now you have your site you need to find some common keywords you can target towards for your website. This is very important so make sure you take your time and don’t rush, without having the right keywords your website has no focus and no real way to get high as you are firing blind. I would suggest starting with smaller keywords and workings your way up to more well known ones.
There are a range of free tools and some paid ones which are perfect for helping you, Google Adwords & Word Tracker are ideal programs for this.
5) Break your keywords down
Now you have your main keywords try use 4 or 5 of them within your main sub categories. This will help your rank within Google and all other major search engines. Assign a few keywords to each page and make sure you use them often but dont be spammy make sure they are relevant and they help your company and of course they make sense.
Again word tracker and the Google Adwords tool are ideal for helping you choose them.
6) Work on your website site Navigation
You need to work on how people will navigate around your website and how they will get there. Use some of your Primary Keyword as headers for 5 main Sub-sections and use secondary keywords as headers for content pages under each Primary Keyword. Link back to other pages within smaller pages so people can move around your website easily and quickly.
Again unfortunately there are no tools for helping you with this just time and effort.
7) Re-Work & Write your content
If you have already worked on some content think about re-working it to include some of your new snazzy keywords don’t go over doing it and make sure it still reads well. You can make your conent more keyword focussed which will ensure your website is picked up by search engines.
This is something only you can do but again I can offer advice if you need.
8) Structure each individual page
Now you have all your keywords and content you need to start putting them into action so from the top down the below is a quick list you can use to keep your site in the know.
- Page Title
Your page title should always reflect the web page your on don’t try and fool people or search engines as it wont help so be honest.
- Meta keyword tags
Meta Keywords aren’t so well used anymore but nothing should be over looked always try and use a range of keywords which are relevant to that page.
- Meta Description tags
Again things like Meta aren’t well known or used by major search engines anymore but still never over look it. Start by using a few keywords and other words to describe your webpage. If it was an about us page maybe put something like the below
“About Kevin Wiles SEO Consultant based in West Midlands”
- Headings
You should all know about headings and the range of H tags you can use H1 been the most important you should use H1 tags for the main important keyword on your website.
- Using Images
If your going to use images then make sure you put some Alt tags on them these are things that Search Engines can see. It also means people can see what the image will be called when the hover over your picture.
