Keyword Research

I still have to say I feel this is the most important aspect of creating any website what is the point in making a good website that works but it doesn’t get any visitors. I cannot stress enough how important I feel keyword research is so make sure you research research and yet again research some more.

Below are some tips on how to begin this process but if you do need some help then please feel free to get in touch with Kevin Wiles – Stratford upon Avon SEO Consultant.

I am happy to offer any additional advice you may need so please do get in touch anyway on wards and upward below are some free tools you can use to get your website ranking for the better.

Google offers a free keyword tool with its Google Adwords program this is a free service and you do not have to sign upto adwords although it would be worthwhile doing. ( I will explain more about Google Adwords Later)

Google’s Free Keyword Tool

The below are also free tools which you can use to work on a comprehensive list of keywords once you have made a list look at what your competitors use by doing some Competitor Keyword Research. This will also help you work down your list if you have a massive range of keywords.

Word Tracker

Also asking your friends and family can be a great way to generate some ideas as well as asking them what they would search so you can again narrow down your list to get the best Keywords for your website.

I have also added a small link to a very good Wikipedia article which also explains more about keyword research and why it is so helpful.

  3. I think an important thing is to think out of the box a little bit with key phrases. For example, if you sell fishing rods, think about using the phrases ‘fishing tackle’ and ‘fishing equipment’, not just everything to do with rods. This will give you a broader base of potential traffic.
